Doncaster Archives: behind the scenes tours and ‘Daughters of Doncaster’ exhibition
8 September @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
“Discover the stories the Archives can tell about the extraordinary women of the town and its hinterland and Join a tour of the inner sanctum at Doncaster Archives – the strongroom where more than 800 years’ worth of the borough’s history is stored.
On 8 September Doncaster Archives will be taking the unaccustomed step of opening its doors on a Saturday. The King Edward Road premises will be open for a one-off display about the remarkable women of Doncaster and for tours behind the scenes.
‘Daughters of Doncaster’ – an exhibition showing what the Archives can reveal about some of the women who feature prominently in the borough’s story – will be on in the public reading room throughout the day. Tours of parts of the Archives not normally open to the public will be at 10:15, 12:15, & 14:15. The tours should be of particular interest not just for those curious to see where the raw materials of Doncaster’s history are kept but for ex-pupils of Balby Junior Mixed School as well.”
No booking is required to see the exhibition in the Archives’ reading room
