Members Hybrid Meeting – Stories from a Churchyard

When Roger Offord volunteered to help with some churchyard maintenance at Sprotbrough St Mary’s, he never imagined that some gentle gardening would lead to him investigating monumental inscriptions. He found that each tombstone in the churchyard had a story to tell and his talk will encompass just seven of them. From tragic deaths, romance and strange medieval practices to events that changed the world. His talk will cover all of these and show us that even a country churchyard can contain a wealth of fascinating stories.

This meeting will be a hybrid meeting where members can join either in the room or on Zoom and joining instructions will be emailed 48 hours before the event.
