You’ll be pleased to learn that we are not putting our fees up as we appreciate times are difficult for a lot of people at the moment.
Having said that, we have decided to remove the Doncaster Ancestor electronic version membership option for £5, as we felt that this approach wasn’t fair to the members who choose to pay for the paper copy of the journal. You can still opt for the electronic version, but it will cost the same as the option for the paper copy.
Why was it unfair? Well simply put, membership to our society is so much more than just the excellent quarterly journal we produce. There is access to our superb and interesting monthly talks, either in person or via the Zoom video communication platform, we have a great website now with more content to offer our members, and we also provide comprehensive research help as well. We also organise research days at various community libraries, have a weekly self help group on Zoom, and we will be running our first Fair for the best part of 4 years.
However, one of the most important developments, soon to go live, is the project to provide our members with full online access to the more than 1.6 million name database, which contains all the parish and other records the society has transcribed since 1980.
As you can see our membership fee will represent even better value soon, and it can be yours all for as little as £10 for the year. If you want to join or find out more about DDFHS visit our membership page.
