Unlocking the Way to Your Family’s Past

The Society is pleased to announce that Karen Walker will be facilitating a new programme of events that are a little different from the more traditional courses we have run in the past.

These events will take place in the Palgrave Research Centre and they will usually consist of a talk for no more than one hour, followed by refreshments and the opportunity to chat with other members and the volunteers on duty about your own research. We hope that the talks will be as entertaining as they are informative and should appeal to those looking for a social occasion as well as those looking to learn more about the topic.

Topics will include:-

  • From South Elmsall to Whitby: Breaking Down Brick Walls
  • Why isn’t your ancestor in the Parish Records?
  • The Victorian Underclass: Was Your Ancestor A Criminal?
  • Crime & Punishment – Transportation
  • Using Wills for Your Research
